Community Governor - Stan Terry

Stan Terry

I have worked in the education sector since 1970, as a teacher in secondary schools, inner city and rural/ suburban in a range of roles including Head Teacher. I have been school governor since 1985, an Icknield Governor since 1997; a parent Governor Representative on OCC and a member of the Oxfordshire Governors Association executive for the last 7years. I worked for the last 14 years as a lead facilitator in leadership development in the education sector on a range of National College Leadership programmes. I also research and write on environmental sustainability in education and am a trustee of an Environmental charity (SE-ED).

I believe passionately in maintaining an effective and well-funded state education system. Significant developments in education over recent years require new approaches to be adopted by schools and increasingly more strengthened Governance. I believe that the challenges facing schools in the foreseeable future need Governors who will provide support and challenge for the Leadership team of the school to enable them to deliver excellence for all students in the school.

The headteacher is an outward-looking, dynamic and thoughtful leader who has instigated a number of far-reaching and successful changes over the last few years (Ofsted 2019)
