School Council

Key principles of School Council

  • Developing a partnership that includes all members of our school community.
  • Exploring and experiencing what it means to be a “good citizen” of our community.
  • Enabling our students to take an active part in school decision-making.
  • Giving our students the experience of being respected and listened to.
  • Learning how to present a reasoned argument even when this may be unpopular.
  • Learning what behaviour is appropriate in different situations developing peer support for appropriate behaviour.

Structure of the School Council

The Student Leadership Team

This comprises of the Head Boy and Girl, the Deputy Head Boys and Girls, and the senior prefects.

Whole Council

This comprises of 10 students from Years 7, 8, 9 and 10. The Whole School Council meets once a term. The meeting is held during week three 3.


Student School Improvement Groups (SSIGs)

Each SSIG group comprises of 10 students from Years 7, 8, 9 and 10.  They are chaired by Year 11 students.

The SSIG groups are:

  • Website and Communication
  •  Environmental
  • Charity
  •  IT and BYOD (Bring Your Own Device)
  • Student Nutrition Action Group (SNAG)
