Becoming a parent governor is a rewarding opportunity to use your skills and experience to ensure pupils get the best possible education. We currently have a vacancy on the School Governing Body and are inviting expressions of interest from parents and carers who have a child or children at ICC.
The role of a parent governor is no different from any other governor, bringing a parent’s perspective to SGB discussions. Governors work with the headteacher and leadership team to develop a vision and strategy for the school, ensure that money is well spent and offer impartial contributions to the issues under consideration. A background is education is not a requirement for parent governors; the richer the mix, the more valuable the discussions. The key responsibility for all governors is to provide effective support and challenge for the school’s leaders. The role is strategic and never operational; governors do not get involved in the day to day running of the school.
