This week, we have been marking Pride at Icknield. Our Pride flag is flying, and School Council have been handing out badges and wristbands for students to wear. Our new senior students delivered the assembly this week, reflecting on the lives and experiences of a wide range of LGBT figures, including Viriginia Woolf, Oscar Wilde, Alan Turing, Ian McKellen and Tom Daley.
Our senior students also organised a colour run on Thursday, during which all students enjoyed a multi-coloured run around the school; thank you to our new head student Will Naber for coming up with the idea and to our senior student team for manning the colour stations and supporting students around the route.
School Council are additionally running a Pride reading competition. To take part, students need to read a book by an LGBT author and write a short review. Exchange this review with their School Council representative for chocolate!
