Community Governor - Rhian Woods

RhianWoods

Rhian Woods

As an architect, I have practised both locally and in London, completing projects including a £60M residential development in Central London, shooting facilities at NRA Bisley built for the 2002 Commonwealth Games, and accommodation buildings for several schools and university colleges.  In 2003 I set up my own practice in Watlington which I run with my husband Andy Francis.

I have lived in and around Watlington since 1992.  My three children are currently pupils at Icknield Community College.

I was a member of Watlington Parish Council for ten years between 2005 and 2015, and during this time chaired various sub-committees including several years as chair of the Planning Committee. I also instigated and led, designed and obtained grants for the play equipment project in the Recreation Ground completed in 2009.  I was one of the six original members of the Watlington Neighbourhood Plan Core Committee, resigning from this in 2015.  I am currently a member of the committee at Aston Rowant Cricket Club, and am a STEM Ambassador affiliated with Science Oxford.

With my knowledge and experience of the local and national planning system, and in particular, knowledge of local development plans, both being implemented and still in consultation, I believe my input is helpful to enable the school to make good decisions in order to secure the best possible longer-term outcome for ICC’s pupils.

Although I don't have any previous experience in education, I do understand the extraordinary value of a good one and am honoured to be part of the ICC Governing Body during this particularly exciting period of the school’s history.
